Pinging google

How do you tell if google was pinged after sitemap is done? Script generating sitemap well but I doubt it's pinging google.

Hello,

there are no known issues with Google pinging, but it is still suggested to submit sitemaps manually in Google webmaster account:
http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/siteoverview
