When I try to run the generator I get an error... "error opening socket" is about all I can get out of it.

After seeing this forum and contacting my host:
"server-side scripting will not work on that sever.
It is a basic hosting system that is primarily for non-intensive hosting.
Port 80 is open but if the php code requires actual processing to function
it will most likely fail."

I have been told that since this script attempts to write and request objects...that is why my server won't allow it.

Any REAL suggestions (other than "contact your host")....or did I just waste money on this product?

And, sadly the list just goes on and on for this issue.........

Hello,

does your host have a proxy setup for outgoing http connection to allow script to use this functionality?

Hello,

asking the host is usually easier (and faster) way to find out whether server configuration restricts something.
You can try to modify your generator/config.inc.php file manually by entering your *server*'s IP address:
    'xs_ipconnection' => 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx',

Hi all. Happy New Year!  Smiley

I have the same problem with Standalone ver 2.8, 2007-12-27 but 2.7 worked just fine.
I am the host and there is no logical reason for this error i.e. no restrictions are set on my own account on my server. I've altered/updated nothing on the (Linux) server since the working v2.7 was upgraded to v2.8 of the generator.

I've checked permissions (on the server) and checked the settings/permissions after upgrade i.e. 777 for Data folder, 666 for config.inc.php and nothing seems to allow the socket access. Strange.
IP access/input shouldn't be needed for such a simple, well put together, script.

Hello,

strange, since v2.7 was working correctly for you, this error should not have happened with 2.8.
Can you please let me know your generator URL in private message?
