Can't write .gz file

Hello,

After crawling it show the error message in the configuration page:

Sitemap file is not writable: /home/myaccount/public_html/sitemap.xml.gz

 The sitemap.xml is blank and no zip file is generate. I've already chmod the sitemap.xml to 666. What to do next?
And do I need to recrawl it. My site is about 9,xxx pages, it takes more than hours to crawl it.

Hello,

if you've enabled gzip compression in configuration, sitemap filename is changed and you should create  "sitemap.xml.gz" file instead of "sitemap.xml" in domain root and set 0666 permissions for it.

That's right. I'd recommend you to limit maximum URLs in configuration to say "10" and generate testing sitemap to make sure that it works correctly.
