Abt XML sitemap

Hi everybody,
I am karunakar, working as a seo.
I came to an inteview and he asked that how many links can placed in a xml site map.
Can anyone knows pls give me the ans....

Hello,

XML sitemap can contain up to 1,000 sitemap files with 50,000 URLs in each file.
