Opening Socket

Hi all just brought xml sitemap generator and having trouble getting it working same as the person a few post down but now one has said how they fixed it ?
our eror is
There was an eror while the url specifed [external links are visible to admins only]
Eror message opening socket to [external links are visible to admins only]
http;//headers follow
http:// out put

Ive cmd every thing and done what the instructions said still a no go
found 2 Others on this site with the same Problem

Hello Greg,

as it is specified in the documentation, your host should allow network connection to the same domain via port 80. This is allowed by default, but some hostings may have this disabled.
Please contact your hosting support regarding this.

We have contacted them they said it is open by default
they gave us a( telenet oursite80 ) prompt and seemed to be open there having a look
i will keep you posted .

They said the port is open ,So we are at a loss what to do next ?

please make sure that it is not only open, but is allowed for php scripts.
