500 - Internal server error

Hi,
I installed the generator in the same folder where the website is located.
I set the permissions for the folders generator and data to read and write as on the pdf document
Then when I try to run the run the generatot by [external links are visible to admins only] I get the following message
500 - Internal server error
 with the message:
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator ...
What can I do ?

generator folder permissions should NOT be changed, please revert them (only generator/data/ folder should be writable).

Permissions for generator folder are 755 and data folder are 777.
My site is [external links are visible to admins only]
So I think it's right ?
I try the same configuration on another site [external links are visible to admins only], and it works.

Try to remove generator/ folder, then reupload it from fresh package and do NOT set permissions, just open it in browser.

Ok I remove completely the generator folder, upload it again, no change on the permission (all at 705) and it works !
No idea why ?

Most likely permissions were set incorrectly earlier.
