Just curious on how long does it take to be approved for the program?

Affiliates are usually approved within 24 hours.

I was approved for the affiliate programe,

"You can now login and get your banner linking code, check stats, etc."

But I've tried the login to the affiliate page with the  forum details but its invalid and I can't get get them resent because my user name is invalid.

You should use username/password that you specified when registering affiliate account, they are not the same as your forum account.
