GoogleSays My sitemap.xml is in wrong directory
« on: June 10, 2006, 11:41:01 PM »
I created my sitemap.xml with the online generator, v impressive, however I placed the file in my public_html folder as instructed. However when I logged into google and tried to add it the response was "The Sitemap must be located at [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]. To add a Sitemap at [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ], first add that site to your account and then click the Add a Sitemap link beside it."
I'm installing the sitemap to help boost my search engine listings so changing the website submitted would defeat the purpose. So anyone know how I can add the sitemap to [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]

Hello,

you should upload xml sitemap file to the root of your website. public_html/ is an example, which usually corresponds to the folder name where web documents are located.
