problem creating sitemaps with links with ?param extension
« on: April 12, 2011, 02:36:40 PM »
I am going over a website sorting out their SEO issues, and had finished the site so the next thing to do was to create the sitemaps.

I ran the website through the free xml sitemap generator and it wouldnt index anything with a link as below.

<li><a title="Antique Cuckoo Clocks" href="category.php?param=12|10">Cuckoo Clocks</a></li>

The only way I can get it to work is to take ?param=x|x out, but then it doesnt create the page correctly at category.php.

Any ideas anyone?

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay.

Just so that you know, I didnt build this system, I'm just helping out with their SEO.

Cheers

Im not sure if it will help either, but there seems to be other links on the page, as below:

<a href="item.php?id=1003">View item...</a>

Which again, arent being picked up.

These are the images that appear in the image rotator on the home page.

They display fine when I look at the source code, but the sitemap generator isnt picking these up either.

This job has been a real fight to be honest, and I wouldn't be supsrised if it was the way it has been created.

But thought its worth checking with you guys too, and hope something can be done.

Cheers
