sitemap over 700K pages
« on: August 07, 2011, 09:12:17 PM »
Hello,

I purchased the XML Sitemap generator,
But it seems it uses a lot of CPU and RAM.

I have VPS with 1.4 GB of RAM and 1800mhz CPU,
and I still cant run this generator without overload the server.

Is there a way to make it function differently?!
(Instead of save all data in memory -> Write it to the xml file or tmp file)

What do I miss?
Is there a proper way to run the generator?

Thanks!

Hello,

there is a setting to use files as temporary storage in generator configuration, but still links to all urls need to be kept in memory, so it depend on the number of pages the site has.

So...You saying I purchased it for nothing?
"Unlimited Sitemam Generator".

I have VPS, is that not enough to run it?
Seriously guys, dont you think that you should warn people about this memory issue before purchase?!

Hello,

it looks like your server configuration doesn't allow to run the script long enough to create full sitemap. Please try to increase memory_limit and max_execution_time settings in php configuration at your host (php.ini file) or contact hosting support regarding this.
(it's not related to actual amount of memory on server, but in php config only)

I have VPS, I already defined 1.4 GB of allowed memory (php.ini).
The thing is that I have too many pages on my website, and the generator needs more RAM.

Is there a way to make the generator work without using so much memory?!
