Using a wildcard in Exclude URL
« on: August 28, 2011, 08:04:37 AM »
Hi
I'm using XML-Sitemaps V5 and have a slight glitch in the Exclude URLs

After running the generator it says I have nn broken links
When I reviewed them I see that they were mainly caught in a loop from my blog and tags.

For instance, it searches through /blog/tag/9880 and it finds a child tag in the resulting page of /blog/tag/9880/blog

I've tried entering /blog/*/blog/ to stop it from trying to re-scan a duplicate/looping link, but it didn't work.

Is there a way to do this?

I think I got it sussed.

I entered /tag/ as a curiosity and it completelty ignored all my post tags (no surprise)

I then moved the /tag/ to "Do Not Parse URL's" which I hoped would read the URL, but not follow the sub-links.

Looks like it worked. It did trim out a few extra, but I guess they were looping anyway, so it looks good  :)
