A bit of help please?
« on: February 20, 2007, 11:17:18 PM »
Ok Guys, I rarley ever trouble forums for advice but I have tried everything to get this generator to run to no avail. It seems to have a problem with the socket but I have made the calls to check and we are on socket 80. If I am honest I start a crawl and then the error flashes up so fast I cant tell what it really is. I have read every post I can on this and tried everything but it still wont have it.

Could anyone give me any help that would be great.

Thanks  ;D

Hello,
probably there is a configuration problem - it looks like your server doesn't allow local network connections via port 80 (http) - as a result sitemap generator is not able to crawl the site. This is usually related to firewall installed at the host - could you please contact your hosting support regarding this?

You can also try to enter your server's IP address manually in config.inc.php file:
    'xs_ipconnection' => '',

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, yes I checked with my hosts and they said they do not allow network connections via port 80 as a security measure specifically to prevent recursive loops

Great! LOL
Can I ask, do you warn against this possible problem befor purchase?

Hi,

It is mentioned in the system requirements at https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/documentation-xml-sitemap-generator.html which is linked directly underneath the checkout button.

Did you try to enter your server's IP address manually in config.inc.php file:
    'xs_ipconnection' => '',

as previoulsy advised?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, yes I did do what you said but it did not help. I have tried some other measures that my host said might work but to no avail.

Hello,

in case if your host prevents http connections via port 80, they might have a proxy server setup especially for that and you can use it to crawl your site.
