IPB Forums topic views
« on: November 01, 2010, 11:29:18 PM »
I am running sitemaps with IPB fourms. Everything is working well, but I want to identify the reason I am getting high topic views that I can't account for. My sitemaps generate every hour.

It seems that each topic gets approximately 4 views an hour that do not correspond to anything seen on my webstats or through google analytics. Essentially these views must therefore come from my own server IP. With sitemaps uninstalled the issue goes away.

Is there anything I can do to make the process not count a topic view on my forum software?

First of all, there is definitely no need to run sitemap generator every hour. Daily or weekly regeneration of sitemap is recommended, otherwise search engines might get confused with constantly changed sitemap.

Also, I'd recommend to use exclusion settings as described on https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/forum/index.php/topic,4291.htmll#msg15410 for IPB.
