How many times to make and submit a sitemap?

Do I need to make a sitemap and submit it to google everytime I add new content on my website?

It is suggested to refresh sitemap from time to time, depending on how often does your content changes.

Well I update my webpage every day (except in the weekends). I write about 5 articles/week. Do you think that if I update my sitemap once/month is ok?
