What would you recommend for 'delay between requests'?

I'll be using the standalone sitemap generator to crawl a few 100 pages of my site. I don't want to wind up my web host by putting too much load on the shared server. So when I get to the setting that says -
"Make a delay between requests, X seconds after each N requests:"
- what numbers would you suggest I enter?

that depends on your host configuration, you could experiment with different settings like 4 seconds delay after each 5th request.
