Max Execution Time needed for Standalone Generator

I am considering purchasing the Standalone Sitemap Generator.  However, in the past I have gotten many Error 500s because of Max Execution Time being too low.  My webhost (1and1) does not make it clear if I can increase it or not, so I assume I cannot. 

My question is what is the max execution time needed for the Standalone Sitemap Generator on a site with about 2 to 3 thousand pages?

I have not yet purchased the Generator.  I am asking this because I have had a history of Error 500s with my webhost, and I do not want to purchase this and it not work.

Oh, I see. The recommended max_execution_time setting would depend on the total number of URLs crawled on your site and average page generation time (how fast it is opened).
