Sites maps & shopping carts
« on: April 12, 2008, 02:27:51 PM »
Hi, I've just purchased this tool in the hope that it will solve all my site map issues. Currently running so I hope it does.

Anyhow, with this and other sitemap tools I notice they follow every possible link but I have a shopping cart so it follows 'add to cart' links along with 'delete from cart' and that kind of thing.
I'm thinking these are not really necessary for google are they?

Is there a way to stop these links? My sitemap comes out at around 1500 so if these links were not included it would be considerably smaller and save a lot more time.

Any ideas?

Yes, it's recommended to exclude all "non content" URLs from sitemap by adding them in both "Do not parse" and "Exclude URLs"options. For instance, if your "add to cart" links look like "cart.php?target=product&action=buynow&product_id=403", you should add this to the mentioned settings:
Code: [Select]
action=buynow
