Where is the SMG getting the page count?

I purchased the stand alone site map generator a few hours ago and I am having trouble. 

My site has 300-400 pages. However, the sitemap generator says I have 2500+ pages and the generator quits crawling before it finishes.

Any suggestions, ideas?
