Old URL's still being indexed

I submitted a site to google and it eventually got indexed. In the google webmaster tools it suggested that my age names ween't very informative so I changed them and submitted a new sitemap. My URL's have been crawled but if I do a google search it still shows up the old page URL's and of course clicking on those links return an error. I am new to all this, but if someone could explain in fairly simple terms how to get the site indexed to show the new URL's I would very much appreciate it.

If you change URLs on your site, it will take time for Google to drop old links from its index and to find your new links.
