Exclude url not working

Hi,

I am trying to exclude some urls from my sitemap. The doc says to just add a line

folder/

When I do this, and save, my change disappears. What am I not doing right? And why is there all these strings such as

az=select

and stuff like that?

make sure that you have 0666 permissions set for config.inc.php file.
Are other options changed/saved correctly?
