Datastorage folder is not writable: /var/www/html/generator/data/

Hi guys,
just purchased and went through the installation. I edited files / folders permissions as instructed, however I get an error message in /generator/index.php:

Datastorage folder is not writable: /var/www/html/generator/data/


I suspect this has something to do with the fact that when typing in
mydomain.com/generator I get a 404 message
I need to use
mydomain.com/generator/index.php instead.

I am running a dedicated server and can modify htaccess if needed.

Could you please advice?

found the issue: just needed to chmod 777 the "data" folder as well, apparently the chmod config was not inherited in subfolders
