How to know if the ping was successful?

On the confirm email there's no detail about ping. How can I know if it's successful?

it's recommended to submit sitemap to Google and Yahoo manually to track the status:

Yes but what about the others? I have a plugin for my forum that create a sitemap and in the email there something like this:

Google ping: Successful.
Yahoo ping: Successful.
Ask ping: Successful.
Moreover ping: Successful.
Live.com ping: Successful.

I think is a good thing, just to know if ping was made ok.

As long as your host doesn't block outgoing http connections, there is no reason for the ping to be not successful.
