Google Duplicate Pages
« on: April 11, 2009, 02:12:32 PM »
Hello

Just launched my oscommerce website which has the sitemap generator on it

Within about a week Google reported duplicate Meta tabs for urls : -

/
/index.php

Spent about a week on various forums trying to fix this issue without success.

This morning I suddenly wondered if there was a problem with my sitemap so I checked the .xml file and found

loc>http://localhost/mysite.co.uk/</loc>   and
<loc>http://localhost/mysite.co.uk/index.php</loc>  as 2 seperate urls

What do I need to do to resolve this ?

I wondered if it was as simple as adding the 2nd url to my exclude list but I obviously dont want my home page excluded from Google.

Thanks ... Dennis

Hello,

in case if that's the same page, you can exclude index.php from sitemap and keep only www.domain.com one.
