V3.0 stops many times and takes >20 hours to generate sitemaps, HELP!

Do not know how to control it, it keeps on stopping at least 4 times for each generation and then it takes >8 hours to scan 25560 pages(still running). Llast time it took 24 hours (software running time) to generate the sitemap and it took me close to 50 hours to finish the task. Anyone please help!
