404 ERROR - GOOGLE

I can't seem to get Google to find my public_html/sitemap.xml. 

I followed the installation instructions to the letter.  CHMOD all set as requested.  However, I am on a CGI server.  Should I change the file permissions for the ror.xml and sitemap.xml to 644 instead of 666?  If so, should I also change the file permissions of generator/"data" folder?

Okay, changing file permissions to 644 did not work.   .
