My sitemap.php/count file is showing 7400+ pages SMGenerator is less than 200

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  I can't get SM Generator to create SMs with more than 200 pages...I haven't put any limits in the configuration other than standard suggestions.  At first I was getting load errors, but i fixed that on server with script and ini file.   When I submit my sitemap.php file direct to google it sees 7400+ pages...I'd like to do this through generator so I can ping, get url maps etc.  Any suggestions?
