Permissions on a Shared Server
« on: October 07, 2009, 06:18:04 AM »
following is my email exchange with the company that hosts our site.
Is this information corect?
I can imagine the website of most companies will not be on a dedicated server.
Thanks for all constructive comments,

Hello Dirk,
It will be better if you are install to your local server, that you already have on your computer and then just upload the sitemap by FTP.
You can't install to the webserver, because the server is Shared Server and not dedicated server.
Thank you.

Hello Viana,
Please have a look at the attached file at pages 6-8
Permissions need to be set for the files ror.xml, sitemap.xml and for the data folder.
I already put these files in the map /Public_html on the server;
Can you do this and notify me when it has been done please?
Thanks in advance.

mm.. changing files/folders permissions doesn't require a dedicated server. In fact, most of our cusotmers are running their sites on shared servers, without installation problems.
