Multiple Site Maps
« on: October 20, 2009, 12:21:43 PM »
We have multiple domains (.com, .co.uk, .de, .eu) accessing a single hosted web site. Is it possible to have a site map generated for each domain. If so, how do we do this?

Alternately, is it possible to generate a generic site map - that is without the [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ] specified?

Hello,

When you say multiple domains does that mean you have duplicated the content to each domain?

If that is the case then you will be penalised for duplicate data by search engines.

You should choose the most appropriate domain for you market.  I.e. if you are in the UK use .co.uk as the main website and use 301 redirects from the other domains to the .co.uk.

Duplicate data is a big problem.  and even [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ] and [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ] are viewed as two independent websites but you can resolve that with a 301 as well.  Search for canonicalisation for more details.  Or visit [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ] and open up the "duplicate data" tab on the right.
