How often should a site map be updated?

Is there a way to configure the generator to run automatically at specific intervals or must it be done manually?

Hello,

that depends on how often the content on your site is updated, but it's never needed to regenerate sitemap more than once a day even for very dynamic site.
You can create a scheduled task (cron job) in your hosting control panel to update sitemap automatically.
