Too many pages indexed. Advice?

I have a site with about 1800 links. Because there are so many, the site has alphabetical and numeric navigation to make it easier for the user to get around. Unfortunately, the script is indexing the navigation on every single page, not recognizing duplicates and I'm ending up with 10's of thousands of links in my XML. Could someone take a look and suggest some ways I can filter this better?

Each idea is its own link (so people can share them, etc.) and I need to make sure that each one is indexed individually so better SEO.
