First time setup, installed, but how do I know this is working?

Sounds like a stupid question, but...

I'm running this for the first time. It's not like there is a status bar that I can see. I click the create button (whatever it's called) and then what? I don't know how long to wait or if closing my browser stops the process or what.

I do think the tutorial needs to go a couple steps further for the actual running and checking that the install and operation is fine. I realize I can go in a check the sitemap.xml file manually, but from the interface, I'm simply not sure how or where I can check the status of the sitemap creation (without fearing of interrupting the process).

Update: When I click the crawl button it kicks me back to the config page (index).

I searched around and figured this out on my own. Now, will this fix cause me any harm? I have an .htaccess rewrite in my main folder.

RewriteEngine off

that is correct way to resolve the issue - an .htaccess file in generator folder will not affect your main site in any way.
