Sitemap exceeding 50k URL

Sitemap generation is taking a lot of time and i do not any notice in change in size of sitemap.xml file ...however
I see crawl_dump.log is growing.

Earlier I used google(xml) plugin to generate the file ...but google reported with exceeded limit of 50K urls...
So I am using this tool ....

I need to see how it will split in mulitple sitemap files sitemap1.xml , sitemap2.xml ....etc.

I do have created these empty  files prior to submitting for generation.

Please help.
