sitemap_images.xml

The new feature of the Unlimited Sitemap Generator can create sitemap_images.xml.  This is great, as Google was starting to treat our sitemap as Image type before the latest upgrade.

Do we have to submit this to Google separately, or does sitemap.xml give the information to Google ?

you should submit sitemap_images.xml separately - since that is a different sitemap type, it's not linked from main sitemap.xml
