crawling does not write to sitemap.xml

I have just set up the generator and uploaded two blank files sitemap.xml and ror.xml, permissions set. starting url has been set and the index seems to be okay but it doesnt save the sitemap.xml or seems to write to it. I think I may need help to confirm my sitemap url. Anyone help?

I think after a few attempts it has resolved the issue. The only problem I have now is the password setting. When I set a username and password and save it, it doesnt appear to save?? any idea why?
