PLEASE help NEWBIE!

I am trying to install XML Sitemap Generator to my site and generate a sitemap for my site. I figured it would be as easy as the free version. I followed the directions perfectly and I reached the last step. I was able to connect to my website through Filezilla and move the generator file to the root directory. All the files are on the server now and I created the wordpad files. I was even able to change the permissions to the correct codes. I THOUGHT that I just impressed myself but now it seems that it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

alternatively, tell us in detail your steps of setting up and steps trying to create the sitemap. tell us also your settings (use a fake domain name ie. [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ])
