Settings won't save

I'm having issues with the software where if I change anything on the settings page and click save, everything appears to save then I proceed to the crawl page, run the script and almost straight away the page jumps back to the settings page displaying the same settings prior to those that I changed.

I've tried a clean install with the new version, also a clean install with the same version we had before the upgrade - All permissions check out ok, any suggestions?
