Why does my sitemap not work???

I did everything step by step and yet my sitemap generator is giving me all kinds of errors? How do I revert back to the original crawl settings / configuration? Perhaps I changed something by mistake???

Also, do the sitemaps need to be in the  public_html folder?

what exactly is the error you get? You can remove generator/data/generator.conf file to reset configuration.
Yes, sitemap.xml should be in your domain root folder.
