Running the CRON job as ROOT and it show it runs, but no output

I have this CRON job run every morning at 4am, and I show it ran;

"Mar 7 04:00:01 S9999VNW01 CRON[8733]: (root) CMD (/usr/bin/php /var/www/surmodics.com/htdocs/generator/runcrawl.php)"

but nothing is getting output.  It only outputs something if I run it manually. I turned on the Debug feature and it doesn't output a debug file either? Does anyone have any ideas?
