I think I messed up! Sitemap link has 404 error!
« on: May 22, 2012, 05:49:31 PM »
I've used XML-sitemaps successfully in the past. But now I have big problems. Here's the history:
I wanted to update my site map so I logged on to Google webmaster tools and deleted my old site map.
Then I created a new site map with XML-sitemaps.com. I could view the code when I hit the link so I uploaded the sitemap to my web host server then went back to Google webmaster and uploaded new sitemap, but Google says, Error! I got a 404 Error, page not found. How odd. How can that be?

Any suggestions?

Yes, I have uploaded it to my directory. Still get the 404 Error.

No, I don't have a .htaccess file in my domain root folder.

I just tried to re-generate a new site map. After it was complete, I clicked on the link to check it authenticity and still got the 404 Error.

Hello,

do you have an .htaccess file in your domain root? If yes, what is its content?
