Sitemap generation not working

I have had it working in the past but I went to run it again, it says its crawling but I'm not getting any changes to the xml files, I have checked permissions and appear to be ok, and i think my configuration is correct, any help would be great.
I also updated to the latest version but still same error. even white screen.
