Blog ranking not main website home page!?
« on: November 10, 2012, 07:56:12 AM »
Hi,

Our Blog ([external links are visible to admins only]) is ranking for some of our major keywords but not our home page ([external links are visible to admins only])!?

Our blog is WordPress and our main website is HTML.

It seems like the search engines consider that they are 2 separate websites!? When I check the incoming links to our website, I get also the blog links!!!??? Is it normal?

Do I have to build a relation of some kind or write some code saying that it is our Blog... I don't know!

I'm not a SEO specialist or even a webmaster. I'm a small business owner and take care on my website. I created by myself but never learned! So, please help!

Thanks

PS. I  just checked our website Sitemap ([external links are visible to admins only]) and realized that our blog is not mentioned!!!??? Should I add it and how?

Hello,

normally a subdomain is considered to be a separate website and it needs own sitemap.

Thanks for your answer!

Originally, I created my blog to support my main site but because the choice of sub-directory (blog.thailand-investigation.com) in place of ([external links are visible to admins only]) it has been considered by Google as a different website! OK! I understand!

That's why my blog still ranks good for some keywords!
My main site have been hit by Penguin! And I lost all first page ranking but my blog still ok!
I am in the process of cleaning my incoming links (to the main site) but it takes time!
So, I may have an opportunity here! => I'll transform a little my landing Blog page to be more "Sale" and a little less "Blog" oriented and it may be a good temporary solution to wait for my main site to clean-up and come back!!!

An other point: if I create a new sub-directory, will this sub-directory have right away the same age of the main site or will it start new?

Thanks again for your help!
