Hello!
I have Image Sitemap extra to the Standalone XML Sitemap Generator.
Could you tell me:
1. Is it recommended to create sitemap_index.xml for sitemap.xml.gz and sitemap_images.xml.gz?
2. If I'm using gzip compression - do I need to delete files sitemap.xml and sitemap_images.xml from root directory?
3. If my pages contain not utf-8 encoding and my sitemap_images.xml.gz is showing abracadabra in descriptions - do I need to change something in options of sitemaps and where?
Thank you in advance!

XML-Sitemaps Support

Hello,

1. index is only needed in case if more than one sitemap file is created (i.e. sitemap1.xml, sitemap2.xml).

2. Yes, you will keep only gz ones in this case.

3. Try to change utf8 charset setting in generator config.

What to do? and how?

Hello sedark,

take a look here - [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]

you need to specify the "charset=" meta tag in meta tags of your sitemap.html file in any html-editor.
Usually for russian language it is "charset=windows-1251" or "charset=utf-8"
