UTF-8 Problem

I am not able to generate a valid sitemap.  It runs just fine, and generates the urls accordingly.  When it is finished, I can see the sitemap preview from the "view sitemap" tab.  But when I download the file and view it (or if I validate it,) it is a garbled mess and will not validate.

I have tried using utf-8 settings both on and off, and I get the same results.

I think the problems are ä ö ü ß.

sitemap content is encoded according with protocol: [ External links are visible to logged in users only ]
You can see it in browser though.
