Issues with files being recognised as writable

I've been using the sitemap generator for the last couple of weeks and can get most of it working, but am struggling with the generator recognising the writeable status of my XML and HTML sitemap files.

Both were created as new blank files with permission set to 666. Both are located in the root folder.

I can't see anything wrong, but still get the following:

An error occured:
Sitemap file is not writable: [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]
Sitemap file is not writable: [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]

Any clues??

Hello,

"save sitemap to" setting should contain file path instead of URL, i.e. this is correct:
/home/path/to/www/sitemap.xml

while this is not:
http:/[ External links are visible to logged in users only ]
