Internal Server Error on Large Site

I have a few issues with the Unlimited sitemap generator installed on my site [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]

it is a large site and will fail several times during scan showing:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

i can find anything my log as to why and i have increased php settings:
memory_limit   512M
max_execution_time   600

without any joy. I am also experiencing issues with over 1500 links not indexing. Any help is appreciated
