Why does the Standalone Connect to Your Site?

I've used the generator standalone for years working for a company . . . this is my personal account.

Why does it say "connecting to [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]" during the entire generation process? I can understand the need to validate a purchase, but the whole point of a local sitemap generator is to read the local files, not connect to an external site?

Works either way, just seems less efficient.

it checks for a new version of sitemap generator. There is a setting to turn it off in configuration if needed.
