Sitemap generater gets to about 6,000 pages and just stops

Sitemap generater gets to about 6,000 pages and just stops. I restart it and it does the same thing. I let it go for 10 hours and the same thing.

it looks like your server configuration doesn't allow to run the script long enough to create full sitemap. Please try to increase memory_limit and max_execution_time settings in php configuration at your host (php.ini file) or contact hosting support regarding this.

I did that. It seemed to make it worse. Yesterday I did manage to get it to make 3,000 entries on the sitemap. But now I cannot get it to get past 100. We have about 20k pages in total.

On an other site, with 7.0 version, 20 mn more than one hour and still running and it will finish (made some days ago)

Hello,  in this case I would recommend to run generator in command line if you have ssh access to your server.

Generator stop on some directories (screensavers or slide shows), ever the same.
I will see why later.
Exclude these directories in generator.
And that's OK.
