Working with Sitemap generator

1.  I had to manually generate the sitemap; I thought the scrip automatically updates the sitemap.xml
I went through the documentation; it leaves most of it to guesswork.
I wish there was something that walks the new users through.
Now my sitemap is populated, but instead of 1100 pages, it only shows 389 pages.

Yesterday, I went through the instructions with all permissions; and today the file size is still zero. So I had to manually do it.

1. How can I make it so it updates the sitemap?

if you want to have sitemap updated automatically you need to create a scheduled task in your hosting control panel to run sitemap generator.
