File Attributes

In the documentation, the installation guide says to set the file attributes to "666" for several files such as:
sitemep.xml
sitemep.xml.gz
sitemap_images.xml
sitemap_images.xml.gz
sitemap_mobile.xml
sitemap_mobile.xml.gz
ror.xml

I set all these to 666 (read and write privileges). However, after the Sitemap Generator writes data to these files, the attributes were changed back to "644". The only exception is ror.xml which was left at "666".

Is the generator supposed to do this?

as long as the file owner ID is the same as the user ID running the script, 644 permissions is ok and there is no need to change that.
