Index.PHP Needed?

Just starting to use this tool.
The instructions say to install index.php in the website root. The trouble is that my website already uses index.php as the initial page.
How to work around this?

sitemap generator files should be uploaded in a subfolder (generator/ by default), not in the website root folder.
